Peacebuilders International
What is Peacebuilders International (Canada)?
Peacebuilders International Canada or "Peacebuilders" was established as a Canadian Charitable organization in 2006 to improve the lives of children and youth, by providing them with appropriate access to justice, empowering them to overcome personal challenges and helping them to realize their full potential. Peacebuilders' programs not only help to keep troubled teens in school and out of the criminal justice system, but also help to foster resilient young leaders who see the value in contributing back to their communities.

The program is based upon a Peacemaking Circles methodology which is superimposed with dispute and consensus building and adapted to serve diverse, multi-cultural populations. Restorative Youth Circles helps Toronto's youth aged 12 to 17 at risk of gang involvement to take responsibility for their actions, make better life choices and stay in school.

Peacebuilders allows children and youth to be diverted from the criminal justice system and gives them an opportunity to change their future. The Youth Circles program engages youth disciplined by schools or charged with criminal behaviour in honest, respectful dialogue. The award-winning process unravels the facts, gets to the bottom of the behaviour and establishes a sound foundation for remedial action.
